Create x Vision is a series about finding creative focus. It is about that eureka flash where it all comes together and makes sense. JTCM Studio goes out into the community, seeking stories from seasoned creatives, culinarians, artisans, entrepreneurs, and everyone impacting the world around them.

We have spent years working behind the scenes and coming across true visionaries who do cool things that make a city what it is. Whether that is a designer establishing a visual language for a restaurant in a neighborhood or the chef working to bring their stories out onto the plate, there is a moment when that dream comes into focus. Create x Vision shares those stories.

    EP22 - Awo Amenumey

Born in Ghana, the daughter of a diplomat, Chef Awo Amenumey was raised on tradition passed down in a multigenerational house. From an early age, Awo gravitated towards cooking and the passion of feeding others, though it wasn't what she had in mind for a viable career. It wasn't until later in life, after having a family in the United States, that she would follow her destiny in the kitchen. Out of school, Chef Awo has worked as a cook, instructor, and food buyer in the corporate food space. To share her culture and food with the world around her, Awo started Eh Vivi Ghanian Cuisine, a pop-up immersive dining experience. Eh Vivi is a chance to explore the many flavors of West Africa and modernize and reimagine what food can be. Since starting the company, Chef Awo has collaborated with fellow African chefs and local farmers to better understand her country and the culture that is otherwise out of view in the Carolinas.

    EP21 - Anna Stallmann

Regardless of industry, the working world can sometimes be pretty cutthroat, especially in a competitive market. We often work ourselves beyond what is humanly possible to do right by our clients at the cost of our teams, families, and ourselves. For Anna Stallmann, it is essential that we course-correct this mentality and bring kindness to the equation. By setting healthy boundaries, everyone benefits, most importantly, the client.

Anna started her career in political communications in Chicago, IL, and moved to Washington, DC, to work for the Department of Defence. She then went on to work for a political PR agency that helped navigate national and global issues daily. After moving to Charlotte, NC, her work continued through the pandemic before she decided to go out on her own to positively impact her clients and usher in her belief that kindness will take you much further in life. Her success came when she built a PR agency around her ethos and created an environment focused on healthy relationships with clients and the team.

    EP20 - James Yoder

While living abroad in Italy, James and Miracle Yoder fell in love with the cafe experience. They realized that it was more than just a great cup of coffee that made them feel; the smell, noise, and atmosphere also contributed. In 2011, they opened Not Just Coffee in Charlotte to deliver quality barista-focused coffee with unmatched hospitality. By 2019, they had expanded to six locations and were interested in getting into roasting their own beans. After a conversation with friends Erin and Todd Huber from Under Current Coffee, the two teams of entrepreneurs set out to create a third coffee brand, Night Swim Coffee, which would roast the coffee they would use and go on to open its own coffee shops under the new flag.

For James its always been more than just coffee, it is about walking away from an experience feeling good about yourself. His focus on intentional hospitality has propelled his original concept into success and has become a tried and true recipe with everything he approaches.

    EP19 - Emmanuel Threatt

For Emmanuel Threatt and his wife Adrienne, giving hope daily has become a life purpose. Starting out, they were moved to bring sanitation and toiletry supplies to the homeless, but they would come to find the answers to what community truly means. Hope Vibes is a Charlotte-based non-profit that serves the homeless by providing an opportunity to shower and wash clothes as well as something nourishing to eat each week, giving folks in need a soft reset in an otherwise challenging time.

The Threatt's answered a higher calling by selflessly serving the community. They understood that community happens when people of different belief systems and backgrounds come together to better understand each other. Not only did they witness the homeless coming together to find community, but also those who volunteered found it. Now they look to the future to continue to serve but also to create community around hope and purpose.

Todd Boera with Fonta Flora Brewing is a brewers brewer. He's a creative director, baker, farmer, and is widely seen as an industry leader for his approach to leveraging agriculture to push beer forward. While attending school as an agriculture student, Todd learned how the food and produce that was being grown on the farms could be used to elevate the flavors of beer he was learning to make. From this discovery, he has made a career out of seeking out ingredients that make amazing beer while holding on to tradition.

Todd's mission in Nebo, NC, is to bring romance back to the brewery experience, allowing guests to discover the time and place in which their beer is made.
