Hoppy Barn Quilt
While in quarantine, I found myself at the bottom of a rabbit hole, discovering the inspiration, origins, and folklore of the Americana Barn Quilt. I spent my Saturdays driving out into rural Ohio chasing faded quilts along the Countries first Barn Quilt Trail. My obsession turned into craft and I was soon painting my own smaller versions of these graphic patterns in my basement.
Todd Boera, a long-time friend and the Co-founder and Creative Director at Fonta Flora reached out about wanting to replace their weathered quilt. Our challenge was to create a vibrant design that aligned with their brand while being able to outlive the weather of WNC. We collaborated through color, patterns, design, and the obstacles of the installation.
